JANUARY - Here is Sammy rooting for his favorite football team
the Broncos. Unfortunately they did not make it to the playoffs. But there is always next year. |
 |
FEBRUARY - Who's was kissing on my little baby. Isn't he the
cutest little cupid you have ever seen? |
 |
MARCH - Sam and I made it to the Saint Patrick's day parade which
is held annually down the main street of Old Colorado City. The parade was extremely long but
we made it to the end. As you can see it was a pretty chilly day that day so we were bundled up.
At the end of the parade we found the head leprechaun and had our picture taken with him.

APRIL - This is always a busy month for my family. We have
three birthdays in this month and Easter is usually in this month. For Sam's birthday
(see Misc 2001 pictures) I held a huge bash at Fargo's Pizza Parlour with about 10 friends
and family. We shared pizza, and a huge cake with a Curious George monkey head on it.
Unfortunately during Easter Sam was not feeling very well (I think he was teething) and so
he was a bit grouchy even though the Easter bunny visited both his house and Grammy's house. |
 |
MAY - Here we are enjoying a quiet Mother's day at home. Sam
also enjoyed a baseball game at the stadium. This was
his first baseball game and he had a great time. He really did watch the game and he
liked to watch the ball. However; the Sox the Fox mascot intimidated him a bit, but
the new experience of cotton candy made up for everything. |

JUNE - Taking grandpa to a movie for Father's day is becoming
a yearly tradition. This year Sam took Grandpa to see Shrek. Although Grandpa and
I laughed and laughed Sam again managed to sleep through most of the film. Sam and I also
took a short trip to Denver for a the annual SWE conference. We stayed in a nice Bed 'n
Breakfast in the downtown area and they had daycare each day. The ladies there were so
sweet and they just adored my little man. On the last day of our trip Sam and I went to
the Denver Zoo. We got there around 8 am to see the feeding of the animals. We saw
the new baby elephant Amigo and his aunt. |
 |
JULY - Sam's cousins Haley and Seth came to visit over 4th of
July and we spent the day at a street fair in Monument. That evening we went to my aunt's
house to view the fireworks display. Grandpa's birthday is at the end of the month and
we made him our traditional three layer chocolate cake. |
 |
AUGUST - During August Sam spent his first overnight trip
out of town with his Auntie in Greeley. Anna said they had a great time and he loved
to play with someone else's toys; however, he seemed to have some type of stomach flu while
he was there so he came home early. We will try again next year. |
 |
SEPTEMBER - Over Labor Day, Sam took his first plane ride to Indiana.
He went there for the Stepro annual family reunion in New Albany Indiana and to visit his Gigi
in Fort Wayne. Unfortunately a few weeks before we left for Indiana my mother's Aunt Loise passed
away. She had suffered from a stroke several years ago and had been deteriorating
steadily. We visited her grave while we were there. While my parents took Sam up
to Fort Wayne, I went to Shelbyville and did two days of genealogy research. I joined
them in Fort Wayne and we went to the Lake Cottage. Sam was a little apprehensive
about the Lake, but he liked riding in his blow-up seat and he loved riding in the boats. |
 |
OCTOBER - During this Halloween, Sammy learned to carve really
cool pumpkins. His outfit was a bumble bee and Mommy was a flower. He also went trick-or-treating
for the first time. The night was exceptionally warm and it was the last full moon for something
like 20 years. We took Sam over several streets to the old "Millionaire's Row" and went
around to several houses. He kept trying to give back the candy that people were
putting in his buckets. But when he finally got the hang of things he would grab
handfuls of candy, if people allowed him. When we got home he proceeded to choke on
the carmel in a Snickers bar. |

NOVEMBER - Sam loves mashed potatoes and gravy. Grammy fixes him
all he can eat. And when he has a good appetite, he can eat A LOT!! Sam's cousin's Haley and
Seth spent the Thanksgiving weekend with Grammy and Grampy and we did lots of fun activities.
The kids and I went to see Monsters Inc. (we had to sit in the first row it was so
crowded) and then we went to the new swimming pool at Cottonwood Creek which had an indoor
wave pool, two-story slide, lazy river, and a fun whirlpool. We had a hard time draggin' Sam
out of there even though he was turning blue!! |
 |
DECEMBER - Sam had a very event-filled December. First he attended
the Colorado Springs Christmas parade the first week in December. The parade was great because
Grammy had bought some new camping chairs which kept us from sitting on the frozen sidewalk.
However, during the entire parade, someone kept walking in front of my camera when I went
to take a picture. Either the trash cleaners or someone selling something. What a pain!!
Next Sam attended the Flying 'W' Winter Steakhouse which features the Flying 'W' Wranglers dinner
show. Sam loved the singing and band...for a while. Then Grampy had to take him out of the
room 'cause he was making so much noise. Sam also went to see Santa Claus but he seemed less
than enthusiastic to see him this year. But when he got his usual three Christmas'
(Auntie's, Grammy's, and Santa's at home), he had no problem receiving all his gifts. |
