JANUARY - Sam had to get tubes put into his ears this
month because he was having so many ear infections. His speech has improved markedly
since the operation. It really only took five minutes to get them placed. Other than that
Sam's month has been extremely quiet. |
 |
FEBRUARY - Sam's first action this month was to get a shot with
one of the Olympic torch bearers running on Nevada Ave. The Olympics were held 11 Feb
through 22 Feb in Salt Lake City. Before Sam came Mommy had planned on attending; however,
life changes!!! Mommy had to have an operation this month and was in the hospital for nearly
two weeks. Sam stayed with Grammy and Grampy. One day they took him to the lake to feed
the ducks. |
 |
MARCH - Sam had an extremely active March. First he went to see
the Easter bunny during the first part of the month. He was very wary of the bunny and
did not want to sit on his lap. In his picture he looks very worried. Next, there was
a heavy snow fall near the middle of the month. Sam loved going outside to help Mommy
shovel the snow. Then, he colored eggs for the first year. By the end of the session,
the eggs he was coloring were as brown as the color of his hands. Sam's cousins came to
visit on Good Friday. We went to see the movie Ice Age and everyone had a great time. Then,
all the cousins spent the evening at Grammy and Grampy's house and had a blast. The next
day we all went to shoot off rockets in an empty field followed by a stimulating evening at
Chuckie Cheeses. Finally the end of the month held Easter. Sam received a TON of
candy and Mommy's team won the adult egg hunt!!!

APRIL - April is always a busy time for our family. Usually
Easter is in this month and we have three children's birthdays. This year we were
able to celebrate Haley and Seth's birthdays while they were visiting for Easter. Then,
the week before his birthday party Sam got his first haircut. I thought I would cry to see
my baby change into a little boy but he is even more handsome now. Sam's Gigi
came to visit for his birthday again this year. Mommy planned a wonderful picnic for
Sam's birthday; however, when the day came it was sunny but VERY windy and chilly. All
the kids had great fun at the park (despite the weather) and a special visit was made
by the fire department. Sam loved his birthday and the Thomas the Tank train table he got!! |
 |
MAY - Sam and I participated in the Wonderful Woman day at
his daycare. They have their celebration this was so that mothers, grandmothers, or
significant females in the child's life can participate. Sam also helped mommy with
the landscaping she was doing this summer. He moved wheelbarrows full of dirt out
of Rackety Boom (our truck) into the backyard so mommy could plant some grass. |
 |
JUNE - Sam partakes in a cool popsicle on a HOT June day.
He is sitting on a little folding chair that was meant for a doll!!
2002 was one of the longest, hottest summer's on record for Colorado. We had a 100 year
drought with water restrictions. This month Grammy took Sam fishing for the first time.
They definitely caught a fish - but it was a dead one that another fisherman had tried to let go.
Sam was NOT impressed. |
 |
JULY - Sam had a very eventful July. First he spent the 4th
of July fishing in Green Mountain Falls. He did not catch a fish but
had a great time trying with his Mickey the Mouse pole. Later that month his cousins
came to visit him. They spent an entire weekend together at Grammy's house. All the kids
visited Uncle Wilber's fountain in downtown Colorado Springs. On Tuesday we all went to the
. We fed the giraffe's, rode the merry-go-round, ran through the water
in the 'My Big Backyard', and saw the butterfly exhibit!! Finally, at the end of the month
Sam and I went to the annual in downtown Colorado Springs.
He saw clowns, firetrucks, and lots of cowboys and horses! |
 |
AUGUST - Sam really enjoyed playing in his sprinkler Elmo
this summer. He also had two nice adventures this month. First he went to Georgetown
to ride the train. This train goes in a loop around historic
in the mountains
of Colorado. Second, Sam went to the
here in Colorado Springs while they
were having an open house. He loved taking rides on with Eunice the driver. |
 |
SEPTEMBER - Sam participated in several fun activities this month.
He went to the on Labor Day. It was a beautiful morning and
all of the balloons were able to take off. We also went to the Fall Festival in downtown
Fountain. I had never been to Fountain all the years I've lived here and it's just down the road!!
Sam also visited the corn maze at Joy Rides. The maze was pretty small but very nice.
However, Sam was more interested in the small train that took us out to the cornfield. |
 |
OCTOBER - This month we went to the circus the first part of the
month. This was Sam's first circus and he loved the tigers, especially the white ones. We also
went to the Fall Festival at Bear Creek Nature Park. The building had been burned down by
arsonists last year and the new building was very nice. We ate pumpkin pie and went on about
a 1 mile hike. Sam's first. Unfortunately Sam and I got pneumonia during the middle of the month.
We spent a week at home recovering. Sam attended the Symphony Spooktacular on the 26th which
had costume contests and fun activities. On Halloween Sam was a fireman and Mommy was a
Dalmatian. We went to the Citadel Mall first because it was so cold but I did not like the
crowded atmosphere so went home and trick-or-treated around our block. Our noses went numb
but Sam had much more fun traipsing through the fall leaves and ringing doorbells. |
 |
NOVEMBER - Sam had a very quiet November. We decided to host
Thanksgiving at our house and so we cooked a big 22 pound turkey and 2 great pumpkin pies.
Sam invited his Grammy and Grandpa and great-aunt Julie and her friend Herb to dinner.
Each person brought something for the table. We had a great feast then watched some fun movies.
The day after Thanksgiving Grammy went to Denver to pick up Sam's cousins Haley and Seth to
spend the weekend with him. The couzies all spent the next few days together opening early X-mas
presents, ice skating and shooting rockets. On the last day we went to see Treasure Planet. |
 |
DECEMBER - Sam had a lot of fun in December. He went to the
annual Christmas parade in downtown Colorado Springs where he was able to see Santa and his
reindeer. Sam and Mommy had their picture taken at Grammy's house for the holiday. Then the
weekend before Christmas, Sam went to visit at Auntie's house and exchange gifts. Finally,
Santa arrived at Sam's house. He had many gifts to open and the reindeer had even nibbled at the
carrots he left. Sam also got some very nice gifts at Grammy's house. Finally Sam
went to see The Lion King on Christmas Day at the IMAX. He was overawed at the huge
screen and wonderful story. Sam fell asleep early on New Year's eve and Mommy went to bed
before the clock struck 12. |
