This Indenture made this twentieth day of August the year of our lord one thousand eight
hundred and forty six between John J. Walker and Naomi Walker his wife and Thomas Derrickson
and Rachel Derrickson his wife, formerly Naomi and Rachel Chew heirs of John Chew deceased of the
County of Shelby and state of Indiana of the first part and Michael Mayers of the county of
Shelby and state of Indiana of the second part Witnesseth that the said party of the first part
for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to the said party of the first
part by the party of the second part in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath
granted bargained and sold ? by these forever do grant bargain ? sell convey and confirm unto
the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever all the following described
piece or parcel of land to wit: ? acres more or less off the south end of the west half of the
south west quarter of section of section twenty three in township thirteen north of
Range six east together with all the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging to
have and to hold the above described premises with all the improvements and appurtenances
as to the same belonging to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever
and the said party of the first part ? themselves and their heirs do hereby covenant
with the said party of the second part and his heirs that they are lawfully seized in ? of the
premises aforesaid as heirs aforesaid and have gone ? full ? and lawful authority to see and
convey the same in manner aforesaid that the ? are free and clear from all encumbrances
whatsoever and that they forever warrant and ? the same and the quiet ? possession thereof
together with the appurtenances to the same belonging or appertaining unto the said Michael M.
Myers his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever
In witness whereby the said John Walker and Thomas Derrickson and Naomi Ann Walker and Rachel
Derrickson their wives who hereby relinquish their rights forever to the above described premises
that their unto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

I John S Campbell the recorder of said county do hereby certify that above John J Walker
and Thomas Derrickson came personally before me and acknowledged the foregoing instrument in
writing to be their voluntary act and deed for the purpose therein mentioned. Also Naomi
Walker and Rachel Derrickson > the wives of the said John Walker and Thomas Derrickson who
being by me explained privately
