The recipe for my Grandmother's three layer chocolate cake: Cake:
Cream Crisco and sugar together. Add beaten eggs. Add baking soda to sour milk. Pour boiling water over cocoa. To Crisco/sugar mix add alternating equal parts sifted flour and milk. Add cocoa mixture and vanilla. Pour into 3 greased, floured cake tins. Bake at 375 deg. for 30 min. Frosting:
Melt together chocolate and oleo until shiny and stiff. Stir in alternating parts powdered sugar and milk. Add vanilla. |
