Canada: I've driven through Canada twice on the Alcan highway to
Alaska. During my first trip in 1986 with my ex-husband, we stopped in Vancouver for the World
Exposition. Vancouver was great and the intial drive up the coast was stunning. But once we
were into the Yukon I began to get a feeling about the isolation of of the North and I wasn't
very impressed. During my second trip we went through Edmonton and Calgary. Both nice but
REALLY far away from anything. The natural beauty is incredible but should be viewed during
visits only - not lived in. More Canada
Alaska: As you can tell from my school, job, and travel pages
I spent some time in Alaska. My ex-husband moved there in 1986 about six-month's ahead of me.
I arrived in January 1987. We spent about four years in Fairbanks (actually we lived in the North
Pole, which is a real town outside Fairbanks). After I graduated from college my husband
and I moved to Anchorage and spent a year there before moving home to Colorado. I can't say
I loved Alaska but it is a beautiful place - mostly in the summer. I swore I would never
return but my good friend Tina has brought me back there several times since I left. More Alaska
Arizona: In 1999 a group of friends and I planned a 5 day trip to
Havasu Canyon, one of the offshoot canyons in the Grand Canyon. We hiked 14 miles into the
canyon and spent three days at the bottom enjoying Havasu and Mooney Falls. More Arizona
Colorado: Colorado Springs is home for me. I moved here when
I was about three years old and besides my brief five year interlude in Alaska I have lived there.
The climate is great, there is sunshine nearly all year long, and the mountains are incredible.
My experience in life is to find a wonderful place to call your home because you will spend the
majority of your time there. There are other equally beautiful places in the world but
I can visit them and come home to my beautiful place. I will always make sure I have a house
in Colorado Springs so that I always have the option of coming home. More Colorado
Florida: My parents lived in Palm Beach, FL when I was about
2 to 3. As an adult I finally went back in January 1998 when I had a conference in
Fort Lauderdale FL. We stayed in a nice house by the beach and spent an extra day at Walt Disney
World More Florida | |
Hawaii: I've been to Hawaii three times. Once in 1983 as a teenager
with my parents and again with my friend Tina in 1998. With my parents we began on Oahu and spent
about three days exploring that island and then we went to to the main island Hawaii and stayed in
a hotel near the volcano. Finally we visited Kauai and Maui. Both beautiful. With Tina,
we stayed in a very nice condo right across from the beach in Maui. We spent our time snorkeling
and whale watching. Finally in 2000 I had to go to Oahu for work. I didn't get any time for
site-seeing during that trip. More Hawaii
Indiana: Most of my mother and father's family are from Fort Wayne
and New Albany Indiana. My grandmother and my mother's Aunt Wanda both live there. I love to go
for visits because the climate is so different. Indiana is green and lush but hot and muggy. More Indiana
New England: In 1994 I took a vacation
after one of my work trips. I spent about 5 days travelling from New Hampshire up the coast of Maine.
Maine is so incredibly beautiful. I wish now that I had had the internet beacuse I think
I would have been able to see so many more sites. But I will be able to take my son Sam
with me next time so we'll cover all the bases.
The South: In 1993, about six months before my divorce, my ex
and I took a week trip through the south. I had never been to the south and I thought it would
be great. We went to Montgomery (which I did not think was very impressive), Atlanta, and up
the coasts of North and South Carolina, then over to Virginia and back to Colorado. I loved
the coastal states. They were beautiful. I am looking forward to taking Sam through them

Washington: I lived in Kent, WA for about 3 months while
I worked at Boeing. Kent was very nice, much smaller than it's two big neighbors Seattle
and Tacoma. I also took a vacation with my ex-husband to Seattle in 1990. We stayed in a youth
hostel on one of the small islands off the coast. We had to take a ferry to the mainland every
day. We went into Seattle and took the Underground tour, below the city and then spent the
4th of July downtown for fireworks. It was quite a nice adventure. More Washington |
