Pikes Peak or Blast XII Information

COSROCS hosted the 12th edition of Pikes Peak or Blast on July 14-15 at Cape Preble in Peyton, Colorado. Sport flying, as well as NAR contest events, took place.

Patrick Underwood won the Editor's Design Contest with his Limiting Factor. Since this is 2001, the theme of the contest was to design a futuristic-looking model rocket. Patrick's model was superbly designed. Plans for the Limiting Factor are in the Sep-Oct 2001 issue of the COS-Rocketeer.

One of the NAR events held was Plastic Model Conversion. All of the entered models made qualifying flights (though a couple were marginally stable). In C division, Bruce Markielewski took first place in this event with his Battle Star Galactica Colonial Viper. It flew on a cluster of three motors (one A8-3 and two C6-3's). Ed O'Neill came in second with his F104. Greg Elder's Ariane 5 flying on a D10-4 motor took third place. Finally, in fourth place was Jeff Proffit's Saturn 1B.
