These instructions below are for users who have previously installed an earlier version of "Address & Phone Book, Version 4.05 or earlier". If you have Version 4.05 or newer, you can use the update. Send me an E-mail message if you have questions (E-mail address at bottom of page).

Directions for installing New Version!

You must first UNINSTALL the earlier version. Follow these directions carefully so you do not delete your address database file.

1. First, open the program "Address & Phone Book". Select "Back-up Database" from the "Utilities/Database Utilities" menu to make a back-up of your Database.

2. For a precaution, you will make a manual back-up of the database files. Using Windows Explorer, go to the "Address & Phone Book directory", the default is "C:\Program Files\Address & Phone Book". If you installed it into a different directory, go to that particular directory. You need to back up 3 files. Look for "PhoneB95.MDB", "PhoneB95.hig", and "PhoneB95.pas". Copy these 3 files to a temporary directory (folder).

3. Now open the Control Panel from the "Start/Settings" button on the Task bar. Click on the ICON "Add/Remove Programs" and remove "Address & Phone Book" from the computer. It may say that the directory or folder could not be removed, but that is no problem, that means that your back-up files is still there.

4. Now, download Address & Phone Book Version(9.01) from this website. Unzip the file phoneb95.zip into a temporary directory. Click on setup.exe in the folder you extracted it to and the Setup will begin. Choose the folder you would like to install it in or accept the default. The program will now install.

5. When the program has installed, copy the 3 files that you had previously backed-up, ("PhoneB95.MDB", "PhoneB95.hig", and "PhoneB95.pas") back into the program directory,(the default is "C:\Program Files\Address & Phone Book"). You are all set. Now start the program and your database should show up in the program.
