D.D. gets a 1st Place Ribbon for serving the best CHOCOLATE GLAZED DONUT
around. They are the only shop in Boulder that sells choc. glazed donuts.
Furthermore, D.D.'s assortment of filled donuts prevails past the competition
(although I'm not an expert in the filled category.) Unfortunately, D.D. fails
in the raised donut department. They receive a last place bid in this category,
both their choc. and glazed raised donuts fall below even the local supermarket
quality. A nice and new remodeling of the store improves the atmosphere and rates
them with the best. |
| Mr. DONUT | Mr. Donut comes in at Second Place
just slightly ahead of Winchels. Mr. D's choc. glazed rates about a 7.0 compared to
the 9.0 of D.D. However Mr. D's raised donuts come in second just behind Winchels.
It is only the fact that Mr. D's has choc. glazed donuts that places them slightly
ahead of Winchels. Mr. D's atmosphere leaves room for improvement -- cleanliness and
lack of space only defeat their chances of reaching the D.D. level. |
| WINCHEL's DONUTS | Winchel's does not deserve
to be at in the third place position but they are forced to this position due NO CHOC. GLAZED DONUTS. In fact they do not even make a choc. cake donut. Winchels has the best Raised Donuts and high quality filled donuts as well, but they cannot expect to
reach the top unless they add choc. glazed donuts to their menu. Furthermore, Winchel's atmosphere is clean and pleasant, recieving plenty of sunshine in the morning. Again this is not enough to topple their injustice of NO CHOC. GLAZED DONUTS... |
| DAYLIGHT DONUTS | Daylight Donuts falters in almost every category. If you like cake donuts then you can fight it out between the local supermarket and Daylights because that's all either one is good at making. In a
ddition, their atmospheres are almost identical, while Daylight Donuts has windows, they have never been open when I was in their store. Sorry Daylight, but learn by example... |
