This is looking from the old Library towards the Front Circle.

The is the Memorial Foutain. There are now 2 tiny trees which are in the spaces that were occupied by 2 large old trees. In the Summer of 1995 right before I moved from Indiana to Colorado, a severe storm took care of those trees. One tree was knocked down by lightning and the other one by wind. This was a good place to sit in the shade but it will be quite a few years before those trees make some shade. Take a look at UE Pics Page 1 with my Mustang in the picture. You will see the old trees.

This was taken on labor Day weekend in 1997. This is at the TKE house at UE which if off of Walnut near Weinbach. There are 2 balconies at the house and we are looking down South. THe other balcony is part of the room I use to have for my last year and a half in college. Having one of these rooms was a special privilege and they were hard to get. I enjoyed spending time outside throughout the year.

This is an old newspaper box that has been sitting underneath the center stairway in Hale Hall since Spring Semester of 1987 ! During my Freshman Year (1985-86) and most of my Sophomore Year (1986-87), I lived in Hale Hall Room 106. Next door to me was Room 105 which was occupied by a 1 semester student who basically flunked out of school. He was known for stealing things and he decided to steal this newspaper box.

After he dropped out of school, there was a lot of stuff left behind. A friend of mine who was from Carbondale, IL and still lives there today wanted to take the box home but he had no car. He tried to get me to put the box in my car on our next trip to Carbondale but I wouldn't let him. Anything involving a Motor Vehicle in the commission of a felony can result in the loss of drivers license along with 8 points in Indiana. So what happened is he got the box from Room 105 to underneath the center stairway where it has been sitting ever since. This was taken when we were in Evansville on Labor Day Weekend in 1997. Even the maintainence staff at UE never bothered to remove the box either. I told him about the box and he laughed.

The guy who stolen the box also stole a Faculty member's parking permit one time. At UE, we didn't have stickers, we had the hang tag permits which can be transfered from one car to another. He had the permit a short time before he got caught. During my time at UE, a few of us would try to buck the parking system. Many times, we ended up paying for our mis-deeds. I was "given" a red commuter tag since the parking around the dorms were for faculty and commuters. The dorm students had to park across campus. The red tag I had was given by a student who left school mid way through the year. I got in trouble for this with UE Security. The next year, regulations were implemented to bar anyone from using a parking permit unless it was assigned to them or their car.
