PCI Systems ISP review

I've been using this ISP since I moved here in 1997, and I have been very happy with their service. At first I used a V.90 dialup account ($19.95/month), and switched to ADSL as soon as it was available ($17.95/month). I chose PCI over USWest/Qwest since PCI uses "bridging mode" for their DSL customers, which means you don't have to use Windows or a performance robbing PPPoE connection.

They provide 6 email addresses, 10MB web space, a shell account, web access to email, and optional spam filtering in the base package price.

Just so my honesty isn't in question, some minor nits. The DSL has worked fine (640K down, 274K up), however the IP is provided dynamically via DHCP instead of being static. I have been able to work around this as needed, but configuration is easier with a static IP. The news service has plenty of groups, although each NNTP connection has been throttled to 5K/second since they outsourced that to corp.supernews.net. You won't notice any limits due to this on a dialup line. For my DSL connection, I have software to download the news groups I am interested in overnight.

Mention my name and I get a free month of service! :-)
