Spawn_chainba1

This Series is unique among the SPAWN Ultra Action Figure Toy Line. The figures are “humanized,” meaning they look more like costumed people and are proportioned accordingly. They based on the 1997 New Line Cinema Movie “SPAWN,” and the Carded Movie figures arrived in stores during mid-July of 1997. The Deluxe Boxed Figures did not ship until September of 1997. The movie itself was released on August 1, 1997.

After the first two or three shipments of the Movie Figures, a McFarlane Toys Promotional Flyer was packed inside the Bubble with the figures. The Deluxe Boxed Figures (which shipped later in the line) always included the flyer packed in their boxes. This flyer was located to the right of each figure in-between the inner and outer Bubble packs on the Carded Figures. The flyer included (from top to bottom) promotional photos of Series 7, Series 8, “The Monsters” action figure line, the “KISS” action figures, the Movie Series figures, the “TOTAL CHAOS” Series 2 figures and the “Manga Spawn” (Series 9) figures.

The opposite side of the Flyer had an entry form for the McFarlane Toys Collector’s Club, thus making the Club accessible to everyone who bought a Movie Series figure. This was the first time that the Club Membership Offer was widely distributed, having been offered only through the SPAWN Comic book, the World Wide Web and at various Conventions up until that point. The “Gold Membership” offer stated that new members would receive an Exclusive figure, but no specific figure was mentioned. It was recommended on the flyer that the prospective member call the Toy Club to find out which “Premium” figure was being offered at that time.

Information stickers appear on the lower Right corner of the bubble-packs. They are Black in color with Blue and White Lettering design.

All peg-hole die-cuts on the Movie Series cards are round and smaller than previous Series’ cards.

When an accessory or sticker is referred to as being on the left or right side of a bubble pack, the reference point is from the perspective of looking directly at the front of an unopened figure.

The Assortment and Master Numbers for each figure can be found on the front lower right hand side of the Carded Figures. The Deluxe Boxed Figures Numbers are found on the left hand side of the box toward the bottom.

There is no Series Number found on the front lower left hand side of the card or boxes.

The Carded Figures in this Series do not use the Two-Letter Code Designation found on previous cards. The Deluxe Boxed Figures, however, use a Three Letter Code in order to differentiate the figures. This Three Letter Code is found on the top of the boxes in the lower right hand corner.

The Movie Series Figures were the FIRST McFarlane SPAWN Action Figures to utilize foot peg holes. All figures, including the Deluxe Boxed Figures, have the foot peg holes on the bottoms of their feet.
