FIGURES IN SERIES 9:
Manga Spawn | Manga Ninja Spawn | Manga Clown | Manga Violator | Manga Curse | The Goddess

Spawn_Chainbar

The Spawn Logo color change from the Series 8 Blue and Yellow Color to the Series 9 Purple Color, and a New, Grid-Like Texture depicting the SPAWN Logo on the card back are the main differences between the Series 8 and Series 9 figure cards. The word “MANGA” was added above the main word “SPAWN,” and both words are a gradient Purple surrounded by a Yellow outline. The card is Dark Blue at the top that shifts to White at the bottom. There is texturing inside the word “SPAWN” that has circles connected with 4 spokes. The bubble shift from the Trapezoid Bubble to a Rectangular Bubble is another major shift in package design between Series 8 and Series 9.

Series 9 is also known as Manga Series 1. The figures took on an appearance similar to the Japanese Manga comic book style. A new SPAWN mythos was added to the Bio Cards of the figures, making MANGA SPAWN a fighter for the great house of Fujiwara in the alternate universe of Kuroshio. His primary mission is to defy the Temple of Darkness, whom MANGA VIOLATOR represents in this setting.

The initial shipment of the Series 9 figures had no Oriental Scripting on the figures. The later shipments incorporated Chinese Kanji scripting, each with various phrases and meanings. The Series 9 Repaints had Japanese characters that replaced the Chinese Kanji characters. Minor paint and mold variations also appeared when the initial scripting was added, which made Series 9 have the most variations of any SPAWN action figure Series before repaints were released.

Information stickers appear on the bottom front of the bubble-packs. They are Blue in color with Purple vertical stripes and Yellow ltters.

All peg-hole die-cuts on the Series 9 cards are round.

When an accessory or sticker is referred to as being on the left or right side of a bubble pack, the reference point is from the perspective of looking directly at the front of an unopened figure.

The Assortment and Master Numbers for each figure can be found on the front lower right hand side of the card.

The words "Series 9" are found on the front lower left hand side of the card, which denotes the figure as a member of Series 9.

Each figure has a Two-Letter Identification Code and the Figure’s Name that can be used to browse the figures easily while they are hanging on pegs. The Two-Letter code can be found on the front upper right-hand side of the card, below the series letter identification "M." The Figure’s Names can be found in the lower right-hand corner of the cards. Series 9 was the THIRD group of SPAWN Ultra-Action Figures that used this type of coding.
